Brachyglottis cassinioides (syn Senecio cassinioides) forms a large, bushy, erect, evergreen shrub, which reaches 4–10 ft (1.2–3 m). The small, narrow grey-green leaves are up to 0.25 in (6 mm) long. The flowers are bright yellow.

Brachyglottis cassinioides is found in alpine to subalpine scrub to the east of the South Island, New Zealand.
