Hebe ‘Franciscana Variegata’ forms a fairly
compact, rounded evergreen bush, about 2 ft (60 cm) high and wide. The
variegated leaves are thick, oval-shaped and irregularly blotched with cream; 1.2–2 in
(30–50 mm) long. The flowers are violet, fading to lilac
or white; summer. In the UK this hebe needs a warm sheltered garden
to thrive.
The parents of this hybrid are Hebe elliptica and Hebe speciosa. Sold
in the USA as ‘New Zealand Flame Bush’. It is sometimes called Hebe ‘Variegata’
